January 12, 2018How do I get my site to show the green secure lock?
Securing your WordPress site with a properly configured SSL certificate is the first step towards a secure WordPress site. Once a certificate has been purchased and installed to the server, the certificate must still be configured on the website for the site to load and gain the benefits of HTTPS. The WordPress HTTPS Configuration, by Nethers Web Design, takes the headache and legwork out of reconfiguring your site to load securely.
Why do I need my WordPress site configured for HTTPS?
As far back as 2014, Google began providing improved Search Engine Optimization (SEO) or preferential placement in search results to sites loading on HTTPs. Additionally, Google Chrome and other browsers are increasingly placing emphasis on SSL secured websites. In October of 2017, the world’s most used browser, Google Chrome, began to display an insecure URL warning on webpages lacking SSL certificates with password fields. The long game for browsers is to include this warning on all pages with any form of entry field without SSL certificates.
What other security measures should I take for WordPress?
Securing your site is a key component of website ownership. Your WordPress HTTPS Configured website is best paired with a WordPress FireWall that helps prevent unauthorized website breaches and for total piece of mind, users should be sure to install updates and configure regular backups too. Nethers Web Design is proud to offer all of these services.
Admin access to the WordPress site will be requested on purchase. This service does not include the SSL certificate purchase, nor the server installation of an SSL Certificate as the host usually includes that with purchase; please inquire via the contact form or live chat if you would like assistance with these host related requests.
Note: This is a one-time software as a service, deployment and configuration.
